A traditional and popular breakfast choice in the Gulf, balaleet beautifully brings together the savouriness of an omelette with the sweetness of sugar dusted fried vermicelli. Sweet, savoury, crispy and soft — it’s a party of sensations in your mouth.
Here’s how to make balaleet in five easy steps:

Step 1.
Cook the vermicelli in boiling water until soft, then drain
Step 2.
Heat some oil/ghee in a pot, and drop in the cooked vermicelli

Step 3.
Add in sugar, ground ginger, cardamom powder and saffron to taste
Step 4.
Beat two eggs and add to another small frying pan or skillet to make an omelette

Step 5.
Once the vermicelli is toasted a beautiful golden colour, transfer to a dish, slice the omelette into strips and place on top. Garnish with nuts and enjoy
