As temperatures continue to drop, we’ve got the perfect spiced tea drink to warm you up.
Qatar’s unofficial national drink, karak, is the Gulf’s take on spiced chai, and is the perfect winter drink to gather the family around. The milky tea was brought to the Gulf country by South Asian workers in the 1950’s, and has since become a staple part of Qatari culture.
Make the perfect cup of karak tea with our easy steps below:
Ingredients
3 black teabags
½ tsp ground cardamom (alternatively, crushed)
1 cup milk, sugar to taste
1 cup condensed or evaporated
2 cups water
Saffron, ginger, cloves and/or cinnamon

Step 1.
Bring the water to a boil with the tea and cardamom
Step 2.
Once boiled, turn down the heat, add the milk, spices and sugar

Step 3.
Bring to a gentle boil, remove from the heat
Step 4.
Repeat the process a few times for the flavour to strengthen

Step 5.
Strain into a cup and enjoy
